14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft has decided to put partners in charge of the Windows 10 Mobile ecosystem, so several companies have started building their own devices running the mobile operating system.
While HP is working on a Windows 10 Mobile superphone, VAIO seems to be preparing a new model too, but for the moment, only little is known.
A report coming from Moto G reveals that a Windows 10 Mobile device labeled VPU051C11N has recently passed Wi-Fi certification, which means that VAIO is advancing fast towards the release of the device, which could take place in the fall, after Microsoft takes the wraps off the Anniversary Update on August 2.
Is this the Phone Biz?
Since we don’t really know if VAIO is working on a new phone or not, all signs seem to point to the Phone Biz, a device that the company announced earlier this year for the Japanese market and that could also be released in some other countries too.
The Phone Biz was designed to be a mid-range device, coming with a 5.5-inch screen and full HD resolution (1920x1080 pixels) and powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor. VAIO also installed 3 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage, and a 13-megapixel camera. The battery comes in the form of a 2,800 mAh unit that should be able to get you through the day quite easily.
As far as the other Windows 10 Mobile devices that are expected to debut in the coming months are concerned, there’s also Microsoft’s very own Surface Phone, which should see daylight in spring 2017. The Surface Phone will be a high-end phone in all regards and could come with a Snapdragon 820 or even the unreleased 830 processor, with the focus to be on Continuum and the capability of turning a phone into a portable PC with just a simple dock.
Both the VAIO and the Surface Phone are still uncertain at the moment, but we’ll find out more about them in the coming months, as we get closer to their rumored release dates.
