Microsoft has released new cumulative updates for Windows 10 devices, and given it’s October 11, they are all part of this month’s Patch Tuesday cycle.
What’s important to know is that only the two latest versions of Windows 10 are getting cumulative updates for home users, as the previous releases continue to be serviced as part of the long-term support channels.
The following cumulative updates are live today for Windows 10 devices:
- Windows 10 version 1507 — KB5018425 (OS Build 10240.19507)
- Windows 10 version 1607 — KB5018411 (OS Build 14393.5427)
- Windows 10 version 1703 — EOS
- Windows 10 version 1709 — EOS
- Windows 10 version 1803 — EOS
- Windows 10 version 1809 — KB5018419 (OS Build 17763.3532)
- Windows 10 version 1903 — EOS
- Windows 10 version 1909 — EOS
- Windows 10 version 2004 — EOS
- Windows 10 version 20H2, 21H1 and 21H2 — KB5018410 (OS Builds 19042.2130, 19043.2130, and 19044.2130)
Microsoft hasn’t provided too many specifics as to what’s included, but the company does say that these cumulative updates include security fixes. This isn’t necessarily surprising given the rollout takes place on a Patch Tuesday.
As far as the known issues go, no new bug is included, as the old problems that have already been acknowledged by the company are still there. One of them concerns file copies that are performed with Group Policy Preferences.
“After installing this update, file copies using Group Policy Preferences might fail or might create empty shortcuts or files using 0 (zero) bytes. Known affected Group Policy Objects are related to files and shortcuts in User Configuration > Preferences > Windows Settings in Group Policy Editor,” the company says.
The Redmond-based software giant says it’s already working on a fix, but for the time being, there’s no ETA as to when it could be shipped to production devices. A workaround is available on the KB pages linked above,
