Tipster claims a high-end Surface is coming

Microsoft is getting ready to announce a new lineup of Surface devices at its September 22 event, and while the company has decided to remain tight-lipped on everything that will be announced at the show, we already know a Surface Duo, a new Surface Pro, and a Surface Go 3 are all expected.

The announcements, however, could also bring us a new high-end Surface that will cost more than $3,000 in the top-of-the-range configuration.

That’s according to tipster Roland Quandt, who says that Microsoft is planning to launch at least two devices in addition to the Surface Go 3, including one that will be priced at over $3,000.

No further specifics have been provided, but judging by the price, there’s a chance Microsoft introduces a new Surface Studio PC.

New Surface Book or Studio

In theory, the only devices that could cost more than $3,000 in their top-of-the-line configurations are the Surface Book and the Surface Studio, so there’s a chance one of them would get a refresh as part of the September 22 event.

But of course, nothing is confirmed so far, so all details will be disclosed by Microsoft itself this week.

The Surface Studio 2 (the all-in-one PC currently available from Microsoft) starts at $3,499 in the United States and goes all the way up to $4,799 when equipped with a 2TB SSD. The price increases even further if you add Microsoft 365 and a Complete Protection Plan (as well as a series of accessories).

The Surface Book, on the other hand, starts at $1,599 in Microsoft’s home market for the 13.5-inch model, while the top model with a 15-inch display and an Intel Core i7 processor and 2TB of SSD storage costs $3,399 (the price is currently discounted by $300 in the Microsoft Store, so the device can be yours for $3,099 for a limited time).
