Apple plans to remove antenna lines on the iPhone 7

A photo allegedly showing the design of the upcoming iPhone 7 has reached the web today to indicate a few small changes planned by Apple, but also to confirm that the next model might look largely the same as the existing one.

And now new renders published online in the last few hours try to provide us with a closer look at the changes that Apple is planning for the iPhone 7.

First of all, the antenna lines. As you can see, Cupertino might be planning to remove the horizontal antenna lines on the back of the iPhone and instead go for a new approach that would have them placed at the top and the bottom of the device.

This should help the iPhone 7 look a little bit fresher, although this small change might not be enough, so the old and the new models are very likely to be extremely similar in terms of design. We haven’t yet seen the front side of the phone, but if similarities are maintained, then this is very likely.

Camera position slightly changed

At the same time, it appears that Apple is also considering a bigger camera on the back of the iPhone, which would be placed closer to the edge of the device. The dual-camera configuration that everyone’s hoping to get with the iPhone 7 might be a feature exclusive to the Plus or Pro models, whatever will be the most expensive version (rumor has it that a Pro model is also coming to with some exclusive features not available on the standard/Plus versions).

The iPhone 7 will be thinner than the current model, which means that Apple might indeed remove the 3.5mm audio jack and go instead for a Lightning connector that could also be used for listening to music.

Design differences are not at all that impressive, so if Apple wants the iPhone 7 to be successful, it better brings major upgrades under the hood. Time will tell if the iPhone 7 will indeed be very similar with the 6.
