It's been more than three months since the free, lightweight, open-source and simple Parabola GNU/Linux-libre operating system received an updated install medium, so the development team recently announced Parabola GNU/Linux-libre 2016.11.03.

Parabola GNU/Linux-libre is not a very well-known distribution and, on this occasion, we'd like to remind the reader that it's a 100% free Linux-based operating system for desktops and servers, a community-driven project derived from the powerful, yet lightweight and highly configurable Arch Linux.

By using only free and libre software components, the Parabola GNU/Linux-libre operating system meets the FSDG (Free System Distribution Guidelines) specifications. No packages that don't meet GNU FSDG's guidelines are included in this distro, and 64-bit (x86_64), 32-bit (i686), and ARMv7h are among the supported architectures.

What's new in Parabola GNU/Linux-Libre 2016.11.03

Among the changes implemented in the Parabola GNU/Linux-Libre 2016.11.03 install medium, as announced by André Fabian Silva Delgado, we can mention the addition of the ttf-dejavu fonts and dmidecode tool for dumping a computer's DMI table contents in a human-readable format in the MATE ISO images, along with better English translation for the command-line installer.

Additionally, it appears that the PCR (Parabola Community Repository) has been enabled by default for all available Parabola GNU/Linux-Libre 2016.11.03 install mediums, including the main Live ISO image, which can be used for installation and recovery, the MATE desktop Live ISO, and the TalkingParabola ISO adapted for blind and visually impaired users.

Parabola GNU/Linux-Libre 2016.11.03 is available for download right now on our website for 64- and 32-bit computers, but existing users don't need to fetch the new install mediums to update their installations. These are designed for newcomers or those who want to reinstall the OS without having to download hundreds of updated packages from the repositories.
