Microsoft has recently released a new Office preview build for Windows users in the Beta Channel, with the company therefore bringing the productivity suite to version 2205 build 15209.20000.

The Redmond-based software giant explains this preview build includes several important improvements and fixes, and the most notable change appears to concern Microsoft Excel.

According to the company, the Recommended PivotTables experience has been further polished in this release for Excel users.

“Recommended PivotTables are now more intelligent and easier to use! The dialog box interface has been replaced by a redesigned panel, making it easier to view all of your options and simpler to change your data selection before inserting a recommended PivotTable. To access the feature, open a workbook containing data and select Insert > Recommended PivotTables. Review the recommendations and insert the one you want into your workbook,” the company says.

What’s new for Word users

At the same time, this new release comes with good news for Microsoft Word users, as it includes welcome fixes, including for pending bookmarks, which have previously been closed whenever users closed a comment.

The company explains what’s new in this update for MS Word users:

“We fixed an issue with Modern Comments where text copied from OneNote into a comment would insert an image. We fixed an issue so that an icon within a table is displayed properly when being resized. We fixed an issue where the Trust Center settings windows wouldn’t open after posting a new Modern Comment. We fixed an issue where, when closing a comment, pending bookmarks also closed.”

Keep in mind that all these fixes are currently available only for insiders, but if no bugs are discovered and everything is working as expected, they should all go live for production devices sooner rather than later.
