Microsoft is expected to unveil a series of Surface upgrades next month at its very own hardware event, and in addition to the Surface Pro 7 and possibly a new foldable device, the company could also take the wraps off some new peripherals.

The folks over at WBI have come across FCC listings suggesting that Microsoft might prepare new Surface mice and keyboards.

Specifics are obviously missing since all we got are some FCC documents, but what we know is they are listed as model numbers 1898 and 1929 and they might be wireless, most likely using Bluetooth to connect to a PC.

On the other hand, Microsoft has previously released Surface peripherals without the need for a Surface or hardware event, so don’t hold your breath for these new mice and keyboards to go live next month just yet.

The October 2 event

Without a doubt, while these peripherals help expand the Surface accessory lineup, the most anticipated moment at the October 2 event is the debut of Microsoft’s dual-screen device.

This new product, which has been in the works for several years already, is supposed to boast a multi-form factor approach that allows it to convert from PC to tablet with maximized screen estate.

At the same time, the unveiling of the Surface Pro 7 is also a key moment of the hardware event, as the Surface Pro has spearheaded Microsoft’s push in the 2-in-1 market for many years already. The new-generation model is expected to come with several improvements for the Type Cover, but also with refreshed hardware that should include the latest-generation Intel processors, upgraded RAM and storage amounts.

More details are expected to surface as we get closer to the October 2 event, including regarding these possible new Surface peripherals.
