It’s happening, folks: Apple is building a new modern iPhone based on the design of the iPhone 4, and according to a new leak, the launch could take place as soon as this year.

In other words, yes, the upcoming iPhone 12 will have a design that reminds of the iPhone 4 that so many people still love, so instead of the curved body, it’s going to use straight edges that look absolutely loveable.

The pictures that you see here were shared on Twitter by Sonny Dickson and are actually iPhone 12 dummies that are typically used by accessory makes to build cases and screen protectors before a new device launches.

The flat edges are the most obvious change in these photos, albeit Dickson notes that the notch and cameras that are pictured here are not certain.

And indeed, previous reports on the iPhone 12 suggested that the smallest iPhones could come with a dual-camera configuration on the back, while the bigger two would feature a three-camera setup. Furthermore, some people familiar with the matter suggested that a smaller notch is also very likely.

Apple is projected to unveil four different iPhone models this year, all featuring OLED panels and 5G support.

The smallest iPhone will be a 5.4-inch model with a dual-camera configuration, while the larger will be the iPhone 12 Pro Max with a 6.7-inch display. Right in the middle there are two different 6.1-inch iPhones, one of which is a successor to the iPhone 11, while the other is the replacement of the iPhone 11 Pro.

Of course, more details in this regard will be shared later this year as we approach the official unveiling. As it happens every year, the debut should happen in September, while shipping could start with a small delay due to production struggles.
