If this is the iPhone 8, Apple will disappoint everyone

We’ve seen plenty of iPhone 8 leaks pointing to a dramatic overhaul of Apple’s flagship products, including designs based on an OLED screen with super-narrow bezels and fingerprints embedded into displays.

But if this latest leak is accurate, then the iPhone 8 looks no better than a cheap Chinese smartphone that you can have for around $100. Fortunately, there’s a good chance this is a fake, though it’s still worth having a look at anyway.

First and foremost, here’s the weird thing: the protecting film on the display does have a home button, while the device itself does not, instead boasting bigger bezels than we’ve seen in the previous leaks. This obviously raises some questions as to its legitimacy, and there are also some other elements indicating it’s all just a fake photo.

For example, the device appears to have the rounded design of a Samsung phone, and there’s also a good chance it’s just a Chinese knockoff.

Small design changes on the iPhone 7s

There are some people who are tempted to believe that this is actually the iPhone 7s or the iPhone 7s Plus, but once again, there’s only a little chance this is true. From what we’ve heard before, the direct successors to the iPhone 7 will come with a similar design and the bezels would remain rather unchanged, with Apple to concentrate more on improvements under the hood.

This means the iPhone 7s and 7s Plus would come with wireless charging, so a glass body is more likely, as well as it other changes like fast charging. On the other hand, since the home button will still be there, the fingerprint sensor will still be integrated into it, as compared to the iPhone 8 where it’ll be embedded into the display.

In the meantime, just take everything with a healthy pinch of salt, especially because all the other leaks seem to point to a more dramatic design overhaul of the iPhone 8.
