Apple likely to announce new models in a few days

We’ve known for a while that a second fall Apple event would take place in October, and as it turns out, we’re only a few days away from this highly anticipated venue.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says Apple is getting ready to unveil not only a new M2-powered iPad Pro but also a new entry-level iPad that will be powered by the A14 Bionic chip.

Needless to say, the new models will retain the look and dimensions of the current-generation iPads. For instance, the new iPro Pro models will come in 11-inch and 12.9-inch sizes, so Apple will focus entirely on the upgrades under the hood.

However, there’s a chance the upgrade to M2 wouldn’t generate a substantial performance boost, as the M2 is about 20 percent faster than the M1. So while the iPad Pro is getting faster, the switch to M2 will just improve its overall performance but without producing a major difference in the first place.

At the same time, it also looks like Apple is gearing up for the unveiling of new Macs, though at this point, the Cupertino-based tech giant only seems to be giving the finishing touches to the new-generation iPads.

In other words, you’d better not hold your breath for the new Macs, as they would only see daylight at some point later this year. No further information is available right now, but most likely, the upgrade Macs would be introduced via a press release.

The revised lineup will include 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, all powered by the M2 Pro and the M2 Max. Furthermore, Gurman says that Apple is also planning to take the wraps off a Mac mini that would be fitted with an M2 chip, and once again, it’s expected to be announced alongside the upgraded MacBook Pro models as well.
