There's no indication of a launch date or if it's even real

A new Fitbit Versa with Amazon Alexa integration might be in the works if the leaks from Evan Blass are to be believed.

Evan Blass (@evleaks) publishes a lot of information about upcoming products long before their launch and has credibility. So much so in fact that it’s very difficult to say that the information he’s posting is wrong.

Even so, even if the information does come from a reliable source, it doesn’t mean that it can’t be wrong or at least incomplete. Until Fitbit actually acknowledges that they are working on a new Fitbit, we have to take everything with a grain of salt.

Amazon Alexa integration?

The fact that Fitbit is working on a new Versa iteration is not all that surprising, especially since it was a success. It makes sense to have another one on the market, but the company also has to innovate.

From the image posted by (@evleaks), we can deduce that it comes with Amazon Alexa integration, which is a much bigger deal. The new Versa would be the first one to feature a microphone. The ability to speak to give commands to the smartwatch could open up the door for voice calls.

It’s also worth mentioning that there are no right side buttons, just like the Versa Lite, and that the backplate seems to feature the same sensors, at least visually. We already reviewed Fitbit Versa, and it’s almost impossible to find a reason why not to get one.

Unfortunately, Evan Blass only posted a single image with no other information attached to it, so we don’t know anything about a launch date or anything else. And since Fitbit is usually tightlipped about any new products, it’s not likely that we’ll hear anything official anytime soon.

Fitbit Versa was released in April 2018 and Fitbit Versa Lite arrived in March 2019. Let’s hope that we don’t have to way until 2020 for a new product.
