The first round of Alpha testing is starting

id Software is gearing up for the Doom game, and it's looking for players to join their closed multiplayer Alpha. It will be a while until this game is ready, but for now we can enjoy the video that's been made available.

It's been a long time since the previous Doom game, but it looks like id Software is preparing to take us back to origins. The new gameplay trailer that was just revealed shows a basic and incredibly fun shootout, with nothing of the modern multiplayer games.

The level design is a lot like the ones we used to have in older Doom and Quake titles, so we know that they are on the right track.

As it stands right now, the game is still in the early stages of development, so the Alpha test can't even be called that. It's basically the weapons, a few characters, and a single map. It's also quite likely that the game will look differently when they are done with it, but it's difficult to go the wrong way after the initial presentation of Doom.

The first Alpha tests are starting

"The first DOOM Closed Alpha begins Friday, October 23 at 12:01 ET and runs through Sunday, October 25 at 11:59 ET. Participants will square off in 6v6 Team Deathmatch on the Heatwave map. Using a limited arsenal of 6 weapons and 2 pieces of equipment, players can choose a pre-set loadout or customize their own loadout before jumping into arena-style combat in this industrial-themed map," reads the announcement made by Bethesda Softworks.

This is just the first one in a series that will happen over the coming months. This shouldn't be confused with the Beta access that has been offered to the people who purchased Wolfenstein: The New Order.

The game is expected to arrive sometime in 2016 (think November) for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
