Adventure Y will offer an entirely new story

Video game developer Beamdog is getting ready to announce a new video game connected to the Baldur's Gate franchise, according to a new and mysterious teaser on the official site of the series, which explains that gamers will get a full look at it on Thursday, July 9.

Given the previous statements coming from the studio, fans will probably receive details about a new title that is at the moment known as Adventure Y, initially revealed as being in development in January of this year.

Beamdog has not said exactly what kind of experience the game will offer, but it will apparently take place in the space between the first and the second titles in the Baldur's Gate series.

Fans have quickly datamined the source code of the site for more details, but it seems that the only piece of information obtained is that a Twitch stream will be used to show Adventure Y for the first time.

Beamdog claims that it will create an entirely new title, which will be bigger than everything it has created before and will seek to expand the core elements of the Baldur's Gate universe.

Gamers have been appreciative of the Enhanced Edition releases for both the first and the second title in the classic role-playing game experience.

Beamdog lacks experience with entirely new titles

The studio has introduced new characters and quests for both older Baldur's Gate titles, but it does not have experience with the development of an entirely new game.

It's unclear whether they are planning to try to push the party-based role-playing game space forward or if they only want an experience that will attract those who loved the older BioWare-made titles.

It's improbable that Adventure Y will be known as Baldur's Gate 3, although Beamdog has stated that it wants to create such a game in the future.

At the moment, Obsidian is giving gamers who loved the classic series the option of playing Pillars of Eternity, which includes a universe created from the ground up and updates the mechanics to appeal to a modern audience.

An expansion called The White March was announced recently and will probably arrive before the end of the year.
