2021 is going to be quite a big year for Apple, not only because the company is working on big changes for the iPhone lineup (including possibly the removal of the Lightning connector or even a foldable device), but also thanks to the upgrades it plans for other products.

For example, Apple is also expected to launch a refresh of the iMac, and this time, the improvements wouldn’t happen exclusively under the hood.

In other words, Apple also wants to make the iMac more of a looker, and while it’s not yet clear to what degree the design would be improved, Apple watcher and leaker Jon Prosser says he obtained information pointing to a larger color lineup.

That’s right, Apple is bringing color options to the iMac lineup, and the model launching this year would most likely be available in several versions.

Apple Silicon version?

At first glance, Apple is trying to bring the iPad color options to the iMac series, so we should expect not only a black iMac, but also a green and even a blue computer.

“For Apple Silicon and the first redesign in a hundred years, they’re giving us the colors back,” Prosser said. said. “More specifically, I’m told that the current prototype units for iMac use the same colors as the iPad Air.”

Few other details are currently available on the upcoming iMac, but it’ll be interesting to see if Apple also wants to launch a version powered by Apple Silicon.

Launched last fall, the Apple Silicon push is powered by the M1 chip, Apple’s very own custom ARM chip that offers impressive performance and battery life specs. Apple is already expected to expand the use of M1 chips to more products this year, so the iMac is a solid candidate for this approach.

For now, Apple has remained completely tight-lipped on everything, including the color lineup rumored for the iMac.
