Nest devices are well known in the United States, which is why the company behind these products is trying to offer good services and support to those using them.

The Android application with the same name that's available for download in Google Play Store for quite some time, allows users to control the Nest Learning Thermostat, Nest Protect, Nest Cam and Dropcam all in one place.

The application provides users with notifications on their smartphones and tablets. But the latest version of Nest for Android brings even more new features and improvements.

Nest has been completely overhauled

According to developers, the application has been completely redesigned, so now it should be easier to find things. The Nest Cam and Dropcam have been added to the Nest application, along with some security updates.

The Nest Thermostat part of the app has been improved as well with various new features such as the option to tap the house icon to tell the Nest Thermostat when you’re Home or Away.

In addition, users will now be able to see indoor humidity and outside temperature. The Settings under the gear icon has been reorganized so they’re easier to find.

Another new option to tap the thermostat to easily access the most popular features at the bottom of the screen has been implemented as well.

Also, developers confirmed they have added increased support from 10 thermostats up to 40 thermostats (max 20 per home).

Moving on to Nest Protect, there's a new feature that allows users to hush an alarm from their phone with App Silence (Nest Protect 2nd gen). Moreover, users will now be able to run a Safety Checkup from their phone (Nest Protect 2nd gen).

New Nest Cam & Dropcam features and improvements

With the new Nest Cam & Dropcam, users will be able to see all their Nest Cams and Dropcams in one app, along with all their other Nest products.

Some of the features available for users include the ability to talk and listen, which have been made easier to use by simply holding down the icon and talking. Also, it should now be easier to zoom in and enhance to get an up-close view.

Long time users should know that Cloud Recording is now called Nest Aware. According to developers, those that have a Dropcam with seven-day Cloud Recording will now get ten days of Video History.

Last but not least, Nest users will now be able to rewind their Video History and filter events by motion, sound or Activity Zone (with Nest Aware subscription).

You can now download Nest for Android 5.0 for free via Google Play store. The application should be fully compatible with all devices powered by Android 4.0.3 and up.
