14 DAY TRIAL // The development team at Visual Concepts and publisher 2K Sports are announcing that they are planning to make the upcoming NBA 2K17 a celebration of the career of Kobe Bryant, one of the best players in the history of basketball while offering some details about the various editions that gamers will be able to pick up.
The simulation is expected to arrive on the PlayStation 4 from Sony, the PC, the Xbox One from Microsoft, and older home consoles at some point in September of this year.
The Legend Edition of NBA 2K17 will feature Kobe Bryant on the cover and will come complete with a limited edition poster showing the player in action, two Kobe Bryant Panini playing cards, a Black Mamba game controller skin.
Players will also be able to get 30,000 in virtual currency for the basketball simulation as well as three packs for MyTEAM, which will also feature a Kobe limited card, special jerseys, and Nike-made retirement shoes as well as a hoodie that the player has been wearing.
The Legend Edition of the title is only offered on the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One, and gamers can place either a physical or a digital pre-order for it.
NBA 2K17 will have another cover star for the normal version
Despite the fact that Kobe Bryant is retiring from his long career, he will only be the face of the Legend Edition of the game, and Visual Concepts and 2K Games will make an official announcement about the cover athlete for the normal version at the NBA 2K16 Road to the Finals championship event that takes place in June.
Presumably, the company is aiming to secure the endorsement and the commercial boost that comes from someone like Stephen Curry or LeBron James, who have been both associated with the franchise before.
Visual Concepts has not offered any kind of information on the way it plans to revamp the mechanics of the basketball simulation for this year's installment.
Gamers have generally been satisfied with the concepts that powered 2016's version of the game, and they might be satisfied with a new game that uses almost the same main ideas and only offers incremental improvements.
Electronic Arts has not yet revealed its plans for the NBA video game series, and it's unclear if it plans to offer a rival for NBA 2K17 before the end of the year.
