Uncharted 4: A Thief's End is the very first video game in the long-running franchise that will receive a full load of single-player focused downloadable content, but it seems that at the moment the development team working on it does not know what it plans to give to the fan base.

In an interview, the Naughty Dog Arne Meyer, one of the leaders of the studio, says that neither he nor project lead Neil Druckmann has a clear idea about the way they will expand the narrative via DLC.

The full effort linked to the new content will start once the team wraps up the initial launch period for Uncharted 4: A Thief's End and makes sure that the core game has no issues.

Meyer says the team at Naughty Dog is a little scared of the moment when they will start work on the DLC but is confident that they will deliver a very solid experience.

He adds, "we'll have an idea of what the reaction to the game, and what parts of the narrative resonate with people. I don't know what the decision process will be if that's going to inform what we're trying to do with the narrative. It's a little tough to tell right now where that inspiration’s going to come from."

The Uncharted 4: A Thief's End DLC will exist because fans reacted very well to the launch of Left Behind for The Last of Us, which introduced a new perspective on the world of the video game.

Naughty Dog Points will have a range of uses

The upcoming Uncharted 4: A Thief's End will also introduce a new currency that gamers will be able to use to get a boost when they engage in the multiplayer mode.

According to the developers, the Naughty Dog Points are not limited to cosmetic options, but the studio is not giving those who are willing to pay for them a way to blitz through content and make their characters unstoppable.

According to Meyer, the rapid advancement will be carefully calibrated to make sure that those who use it will not gain a significant advantage.

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End will deliver a multiplayer mode that will progress as a service, with the studio constantly offering new content and updates to keep the community interested.

Apparently, making money is not the core intention of the studio, and they want to build on the trust that they have gained after the successful launches of both The Last of Us and Uncharted 2 and 3.

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End is designed to be the final title in the series that will use Nathan Drake as the main character, with the story set to follow him as he seeks yet another treasure but also makes sacrifices to keep his loved ones safe.

The studio promises bigger environments, increased complexity for combat and a bigger emotional load than in previous installments.

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End will be offered on March 18 of next year, only on the PlayStation 4.
