Joel Edgerton, Ewan McGregor also star in November release

The western “Jane Got a Gun” has been in production limbo for years, after a series of disputes led to the original director, Lynne Ramsay, dropping out, which, in turn, prompted a major shift in the principal cast.

Though the film wrapped in 2013, it’s only coming out in limited release in November 2015, with a US opening scheduled for early 2016.

The good news in all this is that we’re finally getting a first trailer, and from the looks of it, it will probably have been worth all this trouble. You can see it in full and in HD below.

Natalie Portman stars as the titular Jane, whose husband (Noah Emmerich) turns out wounded after a run-in with outlaws. That alone is very bad, but what’s worse is that the same outlaws are determined not to rest until they find him, so she must flee to save herself and their daughter.

Because Jane is not a quitter, she chooses not to run, but to stay and fight. Because she can’t do it on her own, she turns for help to a former flame (Joel Edgerton), who might or might not accept the bounty money on the husband’s head, especially since he still seems to have a thing for Jane.

The big baddie is an almost unrecognizable Ewan McGregor.

The film is directed by Gavin O’Connor.
