The Santa Clara, California-based company has revealed in a press release the immediate availability of the SLI-ready GeForce 7900 GS graphics processing units with a price tag lower than $249. Additionally, nVidia announced that the GeForce 7950 GT GPU, featuring a 512 MB frame buffer, included in the $299 to $349 price segment will be delivered come September 14, 2006.

"These new GeForce 7 Series GPUs are designed to deliver an extreme high-definition gaming and video experience at prices any gamer can afford," said Ujesh Desai, general manager of desktop GPUs at NVIDIA. "Gamers can now get more performance and features at these popular price points than ever before."

The latest additions to the nVidia GeForce 7900 Series feature set include the company's SLI platform technology that permits the conjugation of various nVidia graphics solutions. Moreover, the new GeForce 7 GPUs come complete with a 256-bit memory interface and rapid frame rate enabled via GDDR3 memory. Additionally, while both feature PureVideo technology, the GeForce 7950 GT GPU also enables HD DVD and Blu-ray movie support through the integration of HDCP circuitry. In the context of Microsoft based operating systems, the GPUs deliver full compatibility for the Microsoft DirectX 9.0 Shader Model 3.0, while their architecture is dedicated to the integration with the upcoming Windows Vista.

"I was floored by the value these new GeForce 7 Series GPUs deliver. Nothing else in the $199 price range even comes close to the price/performance ratio of the NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GS, and the GeForce 7950 GT is a stunner for $299," said Russ Strunk, executive vice president of marketing at TigerDirect.com. "These new GeForce 7 GPUs have the features, performance, and pricing that gamers that buy from TigerDirect.com demand."
