New Wear OS model to launch in November, it seems

Mobvoi has long been one of the companies fully committed to Google’s Wear OS, and while its most recent model gives up on the platform for a proprietary operating system, there’s a chance a future device returns to the first love in terms of software.

And this is likely to happen rather sooner than later, as a listing on Amazon indicates that Mobvoi is already preparing the launch of a new smartwatch in the fall of this year.

Simply called TicWatch with no other specifics shared on the actual model, the new device showed up on Amazon with a 399 pounds price tag, so at first glance, it would be quite pricey.

This brings the TicWatch in the same price range as more premium models like the Apple Watch, so there’s a chance that Mobvoi is aiming for a different approach this time.

The new TicWatch could thus focus more on high-end features, so expect a premium build, substantially improved battery life, and new-generation capabilities, like fall detection and ECG.

Launch on November 30

According to the Amazon listing, the debut is supposed to happen in November this year, albeit for now, it remains just a mysterious device that Mobvoi doesn’t want to share more information about.

Google itself has already announced a major Wear OS update in the fall, so there’s a chance the new TicWatch runs this new version of the operating system for more capabilities.

In the meantime, the good news here is that the Wear OS ecosystem keeps growing. Apple Watch continues to be the number one name in the smartwatch market, so more companies becoming fully committed to the Wear OS platform is good news in the long term, both for Google and for users.

It remains to be seen what this TicWatch is all about, but judging from the previous Mobvoi smartwatches, there’s a chance we’ll be impressed when this new model comes out.
