Before you go in hoping that this is something that is not, we'll just clarify it for you. Murder by Numbers is more akin to the visual novel genre rather than the detective-noir adventure type of game.

The game is developed by independent studio Mediatonic, but some iconic figures are bringing their contribution to Murder by Numbers. For example, the characters in the game are designed by Hato Moa, the creative legend behind Hatoful Boyfriend. The writing is done by Ed Fear who also worked on Hatoful Friend, Swords of Ditto and Heavenstrike. Finally, the music is composed by Masakazu Sugimori, the same person who created the soundtrack for Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney and Ghost Trick.

Another thing worth mentioning is that Murder by Numbers is a weird detective puzzler, so if you're not into quirky stuff, you'll probably want to avoid it. The important thing to know for the rest is that Murder by Numbers will be launching on Nintendo Switch on March 5 and PC on March 6.

As far as the price goes, Murder by Numbers will cost just $14.99 / 12.49€ / £11.99, which is just about the right amount for a visual novel. It will be available for pre-order on Nintendo Switch beginning February 20 at a 10% discount, and to celebrate the release of the game it will also be discounted 10% for the first week of release from March 5-11. Just so you know, the Steam version will have a 10% discount for its launch week from March 6-12 as well.

The story is set in Los Angeles in the 90s and you play as Honor Mizrahi, an actress who teams up with a reconnaissance robot to clear his name. You'll have to uncover a dark conspiracy by interrogating a wide range of quirky characters who might or might not be involved in a series of murders across TV studios, award shows, drag clubs, and more.
