New cards need better and more innovative cooling solutions

As it turns out, new graphics cards with hybrid cooling solutions are coming from the duo announced on Facebook made up of MicroStar International (MSI) and Corsair. Obviously, the main beneficiaries of this new collaboration will be AMD’s and NVIDIA’s latest graphics adapters.

The relative success of AMD’s Radeon R9 Fury X all-in-one liquid-cooling solution by Cooler Master motivated manufacturers to implement hybrid cooling solutions on a wider scale, and since EVGA and less-known Japanese brands have introduced their graphics adapters with custom hybrid coolers, MSI and Corsair decided to begin working together on a new advanced cooling solution for graphics cards, out of which NVIDIA’s GTX 980Ti will probably be the first device to benefit from it.

The first evidence of this work is the prototype of MSI’s GTX 980Ti watercooled graphics adapter, pictured at Computex this year by KitGuru, which is based on Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 980 Ti graphics processing unit and carried Corisair’s newest hybrid cooling solution, together with the HG10-series bracket. Now, Corsair and MSI want to release this very product, and they made their plans known on Facebook.

Corsair and MSI must be ready for this fall's new custom cards

No specs or detailed information are known about the new cooling solution co-developed by the two companies, but it’s clear that it will be aimed at overclockers. No exact clock rates are known, but we expect them to be much higher than NVIDIA’s reference design.

It’s also unknown if the Corsair cooling solution will be the only one coming for MSI's custom graphics adapters, but since the partnership seems solid and set for the long term, it’s likely that many MSI top-tier cards will carry Corsair’s liquid-coolers.

Many other manufacturers will probably have to refresh their graphics card offerings this autumn and bring more overclocked adapters that will have to count on more powerful cooling solutions.
