Firefox browser has received another update

Mozilla continues the work on Firefox browser with another small revision to the main version 106 that was released earlier this month.

As a result, Firefox 106.0.2 is now available for download with additional fixes, and given this is a revision to the original version 106, no new features are included.

Mozilla explains that one of the bugs addressed with the release of this update is aimed at Windows users, as it discovered that in some cases, the browser wasn’t opening when installing it from the Microsoft Store (the company still calls it the Windows Store, but it’s still the app store that comes bundled with Windows).

Here’s the full list of fixes that are part of Firefox 106.0.2:

  • Fix missing content on some PDF forms (bug 1794351).
  • Fix column width for the Notification sub-panel in Settings (bug 1793558).
  • Fix a browser freeze with accessibility enabled on some sites such as the Proxmox Web UI (bug 1793748).
  • Fix page reloading not working with Firefox View and not refreshing synced data (bug 1792680 and bug 1794474).
  • Fix browser not opening if installed from the Windows Store (Bug 1796391).

Otherwise, all the improvements that were part of Firefox 106 are included in this new release as well, including the goodies that were specifically aimed at Windows users.

For instance, Firefox 106 comes with support for pinning private windows to the taskbar, something that Mozilla users have been asking for quite a long time.

“It is now possible to edit PDFs: including writing text, drawing, and adding signatures. Setting Firefox as your default browser now also makes it the default PDF application on Windows systems. You can now pin private windows to your Windows taskbar on Windows 10 and Windows 11 for simpler access. Also, private windows have been redesigned to increase the feeling of privacy,” Mozilla said.

The new version of Firefox is available for download right now on all supported platforms.
