Firefox 63 is now available for download for all supported platforms, and for Windows 10 users, it comes with several improvements in terms of both looks and features.

One of the highlights is support for Windows 10’s dark mode, which means that Firefox can finally match the visual style configured on the operating system.

In other words, whenever you change the Windows 10 look, Firefox automatically adapts as well, basically trying to provide a more consistent look across the OS.

As you can see in these screenshots, Firefox switches from a light theme to a dark mode, and users are also allowed to make further changes from the configuration screen.

Changing the visual style in Windows 10 is possible from Settings > Personalization > Colors > Default app mode. Switching from light to dark also changes the Firefox theme instantly with no need for a reboot.

Faster browsing on Windows 10

Furthermore, Firefox 63 comes to Windows 10 with performance improvements, so you should notice that the browser runs faster and is a bit snappier after the new version is deployed.

Mozilla Firefox is currently the second most popular browser on Windows, after Google Chrome which leads the PC market with a share well over 60 percent. Firefox, however, is behind with around 10 percent, but more than double the market share of Microsoft Edge, the new default browser offered by Microsoft.

Firefox is currently considered a top alternative to the native Windows 10 browser, and these improvements can only increase adoption among users who have already installed Microsoft’s latest OS. Furthermore, Mozilla is working on other improvements for Windows 10, including native notification support on PCs. This feature is expected to land with the release of Firefox 64.
