14 DAY TRIAL // With just a few days before unveiling the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus, Motorola has recently received clearance from the FCC for two unnamed models. Rumors say that the two phones could, in fact, be the upcoming Motorola Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus, expected to be released on May 17.
The U.S. Federal Communications Commission listed the two model numbers as XT1622 and XT1642. The U.S. version of the third generation of Moto G had the code number XT1540, which most likely means that the two models in the recent FCC documentation refer to the 4th generation of Moto G phones. This would also mean that the devices will also be available in the U.S. soon.
An image from the FCC site showed that one of the smartphones will measure 153mm x 76.6mm, a size similar to that of the previous Moto G phones. The Moto G4 is expected to come with a 5.5-inch screen and a 1080 x 1920 resolution.
A recent Geekbench test revealed that the smartphone will have a Snapdragon 617 SoC and 3GB of RAM inside. Both devices are expected to come with Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 out of the box.
The next-gen of Moto G4 smartphones will be unveiled on May 17
The rear camera will have 13MP and considering that the G4 Plus is a more powerful model, it could have 16MP in the main camera. Both phones will come with 5MP in the front camera and NFC. It is expected that the two Moto G4 phones will come with 16GB of internal storage, as well as microSD card for additional space.
Moto G4 Plus is also expected to have a larger display compared to the G4 version. Considering that the third-generation of Moto G phones were the first to receive IPx7 rating, it is expected that the next-gen of Moto G smartphones will be waterproof, making them fully submersible.
Motorola intends to unveil the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus on May 17 during media events held both in New Delhi and Mexico, as invitations were sent in late April.
