The update is delivered OTA (over the air), in stages

Good news for Motorola Moto X “Pure Edition” owners, as the US-based company has just kicked off the rollout of Android 5.1 Lollipop update for this particular smartphone.

If you own one, then you must be confused if you already got the update about a month ago. Well, it looks like Android 5.1 Lollipop for Moto X “Pure Edition” was released by Motorola in late May, but it was quickly pulled due to some bugs in the build.

This means that Motorola Moto X “Pure Edition” units that did not get the update are still on Android 5.0 Lollipop for some months now.

Although Motorola hasn't yet announced it yet, Android 5.1 Lollipop is now being pushed to Moto X “Pure Edition” units, in stages.

As with all these staged rollouts, it might take up to a few days until all Moto X “Pure Edition” receive the new Android 5.1 Lollipop update.

It should fix the bugs from the previous release

One thing is rather curious and that's the fact that those who tested the previous Android 5.1 Lollipop build haven't been able to capture the update yet.

That's quite disappointing since the new Android 5.1 Lollipop update is supposed to fix the bugs in the previous build that's been pulled by Motorola.

Anyway, if you haven't been notified on the update yet, then you can manually check for it by heading to Settings / About phone / System updates / Yes, I'm in / Install now.

If the update doesn't show on your phone after manually checking for it, then you should try again after 24 hours.

Before installing the update, make sure that your phone's battery is at least 50% charged. Also, you should back up your personal information before upgrading to Android 5.1 Lollipop, even though the update shouldn't erase anything from the device.
