Great news for Motorola fans in India, as the handset maker seems to have major plans for this market. The US-based company has recently launched the Moto G Turbo Edition in the country and plans to release another high-end Android smartphone in India in the coming weeks.

During an interview for IBNLive, Motorola's General Manager, Amit Boni confirmed that his company would bring the world's first smartphone to feature shatterproof display, the Moto X Force, in India.

The smartphone will be available for purchase starting in January, but there's no word on price yet. We also don't know which retailer will sell the Moto X Force, but we expect it to be exclusive to Snapdeal or Flipkart.

But India won't be the only country where the Moto X Force will go on sale, as Motorola's official confirmed the smartphone would be available for purchase in other countries around the same timeframe as well.

Although the Moto X Force will ship with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop right out of the box, Motorola has already announced the smartphone will be upgraded to Android 6.0 Marshmallow next year.

Great features, hopefully, decent price

Spec-wise, the main selling point of the Motorola Moto X Force is the 5.4-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that supports Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution, which is shatterproof.

Also, the smartphone comes equipped with a powerful 64-bit 2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, an Adreno 430 graphics processing unit and 3GB of RAM.

The Moto X Force packs either 32GB or 64GB storage that can be expanded up to 2TB via microSD card slot. There's also an impressive 21-megapixel camera on the back, which features autofocus, dual-LED flash and 4K video recording.

At the front, the high-end phone features a 5-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls. The Moto X Force is powered by a non-removable 3,760 mAh battery that should provide up to 21 days of standby time or up to 25 hours of talk time.
