There has been quite a buzz surrounding the upcoming Moto G 4th generation, as images of the device have been leaking online for months now. Recently, company officials have announced that the smartphone will be available exclusively to Amazon in India, after its launch on May 17.

Company officials explained this decision based on the growth that Motorola has reported in the e-commerce market in India, as the dominating channel for new Motorola products in the country.

It’s the first time that a Motorola phone is sold exclusively through Amazon at launch, although the American electronic commerce company has been selling various Moto devices, including Moto 360, Moto G Turbo Edition and the previous generation of Moto G.

Motorola has been trying to increase popularity of its upcoming Moto G4 device with a marketing campaign launched on its Twitter account. The company didn’t post any images of the upcoming smartphone, but decided to focus on the fact that upcoming phones supposedly won’t have a problem with lagging while playing video games, switching off unexpectedly due to low power or ruin pictures because of slow camera autofocus.

Two models in the Moto G series will be launched

The company has hinted on the fact that it might launch the Moto G4 Plus on the same day, but few details on specs are available. Rumors say that the smartphone is expected to come with a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) resolution display, octa-core processor and 13MP rear camera with autofocus and dual-LED, same camera performance as its predecessor.

The Moto G4 Plus will allegedly have a more powerful camera of 16MP and a fingerprint sensor, as seen in leaked images of the white-colored model.

It seems that Motorola has taken the decision to launch its latest Moto G generation of smartphones in India first, before making its debut on other markets. The same strategy was used last year in the case of Moto G 3rd generation, but that model was sold exclusively through Flipkart.
