If you are one of the many Motorola fans in the United States, then you will be pleased to know that new DROIDs will be coming your way later this month.

There have been many rumors claiming the Big Red plans to launch two new Motorola smartphones by the end of the year, sequels to DROID Turbo and DROID Maxx.

The good news is both companies have finally confirmed a launch event for October 27. Considering that previous DROID models have been announced in previous years around the same date, we can safely assume Verizon and Motorola will unveil new smartphones later this month.

Even the invitation confirms that Verizon and Motorola will “unveil the newest DROIDs,” so we expect the DROID Turbo 2 and DROID Maxx 2 to be announced on October 27.

It's unclear whether or not these smartphones will be available for purchase right away, but we suspect they will go on sale just a few weeks after their official debut at Verizon.

Two solid choices for Android fans

Moving on to specs, the DROID Turbo 2 is said to come with a 5.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution and a powerful 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor.

Also, the smartphone will pack 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal memory (or 64GB), but there's no mention of microSD card slot for memory expansion. It will also boast a 20-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 5-megapixel camera in the front.

On the other hand, DROID Maxx 2 will be equipped with a 1.7GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, 2GB RAM and 32GB storage.

It will also sport a 5.5-inch display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution, a huge 3,630 mAh battery and an impressive 21-megapixel photo snapper on the back.
