14 DAY TRIAL // Over the weekend, Motorola’s upcoming Moto Z2 Play leaked in a number of retail images revealing that the smartphone could arrive on the first day of summer. Now, pictures of the retail box made their way to Droidholic, together with new images of the phone.
The images show a red color for the retail box, which mentions the Moto Z2 Play’s compatibility with Moto Mods, since previous pictures did reveal connector pins at the back of the phone. Moreover, the Lenovo branding is visible on one side of the box and the model featured inside has a plastic display cover that reveals some of its specs.
Moto Z2 Play is said to come with a 5.5-inch display with 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution and a fingerprint scanner embedded into the oval-shaped home button in the front. The phone will have 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.
3,000mAh battery with Turbo Charging on the Moto Z2 Play
The Turbo Charging for fast charging the battery is visible inside the box, together with the USB to micro USB cable and earphones. The recently leaked renders, which made their way to SlashLeaks, reveal the back panel of the upcoming phone, together with the Motorola branding.
Moto Z2 Play is expected to come with a 12MP single-lens camera on its back and a 5MP selfie snapper on the front panel, with support for Full HD video recording. It will run Snapdragon 626 and Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box. Other specs include 2.5D glass on the display and a 3,000mAh battery, much smaller than the juicer on last year’s Moto Z Play.
The smartphone is expected to be announced on June 1, when details about pricing and availability will be revealed. Aside from the Moto Z2 Play, Motorola will also announce the Moto Z2 and Moto Z2 Force, possibly at a later date. Motorola will unveil a number of mid-range smartphones this year, belonging to the Moto E and Moto X series, among others.
