Motorola has just unveiled the Moto Z line, introducing some really powerful smartphones and the very appealing MotoMods modular accessories. Now, it seems that the company might be launching yet another handset, presumably, the Moto X Play 2016 that has appeared on GFXBench.

Motorola representatives have recently stated that the company has not killed the Moto X line, but they haven’t provided any details on whether another smartphone in the series will be launched this year.

However, a device that presumably belongs to the Moto X series has recently shown up on GFXBench, together with some spec details.

Supposedly, the smartphone is Moto X Play 2016 edition and carries model number Motorola XT1662. Last year’s Moto X Play featured the model number XT156X, which would mean that the present version is the successor to 2015’s handset. It’s quite unclear whether Motorola will also be launching a Moto X Style 2016 edition or it will remain with just this Moto X model.

Moto X Play 2016 might come with a MediaTek MT6755 processor

The GFXBench listing has revealed some details on the upcoming smartphone, especially that it might sport a 4.6-inch Full HD display and MediaTek MT6755 or Helio P10 octa-core processor clocked at 2.1GHz. It could also be paired with 3GB of RAM and Mali-T860 graphics processing unit.

The listed device has 32GB internal storage, but it’s unclear if it can be expanded using a microSD card. The handset seems to come with a 16MP auto-focus rear camera with LED flash and a front-facing 8MP selfie camera. Both of its cameras support 1080p video recording.

When it comes to connectivity options, the Moto X Play 2016 will most likely support Bluetooth, GPS, and Wi-Fi. The device runs Android Marshmallow 6.0, which is expected. At this point, there’s no information on the price or the release date, but more information is bound to surface in the coming weeks.
