HP is one of the companies that are still investing in Windows 10 Mobile despite Microsoft’s recent decisions that put the platform’s future in doubt, and one of their first devices to launch this year is the Elite X3.

Often referred to as the Windows 10 Mobile superphone, the Elite X3 is indeed one of the most powerful devices released with Microsoft’s mobile operating system and comes with specs that are even better than Redmond’s very own Lumia 950 XL flagship.

And since all signs point to a workhorse that has all the chances to impress, Microsoft and HP don’t want to miss the occasion to promote the device even before its public launch. According to sources, the event could take place later this year, after the debut of the Windows 10 Anniversary Update (HP actually presented the device earlier this year at MWC, but the company didn’t provide a release date).

Official launch likely this summer

Windows chief Terry Myerson was the first to praise the HP Elite X3, and in new videos posted online, other executives are doing the same thing in an attempt to show how powerful this device is going to be.

Dion Weisler, President and Chief Executive Officer for HP, Michael Park, Vice President for Commercial Mobility & Software division at HP, and Steve Mollenkopf, Chief Executive Officer of Qualcomm Incorporated, have highlighted the main capabilities of the Elite X3 in these videos, and they’re certainly worth a look especially if you are a Windows 10 Mobile fan.

As far as specs are concerned, the Elite X3 will launch with a 5.96-inch display, so it’ll be more of a phablet and will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor and 4 GB of RAM. 64 GB of internal storage will be offered, and so will be microSD card support for those wanting more. Features such as Windows Hello and Continuum will obviously be supported too.
