Microsoft will announce its new-generation Surface products next week as part of a dedicated event, and according to new information making the rounds today, an upgraded Surface Pro model is all but confirmed to attend the show.

The next-generation Surface Pro, most likely to be called Surface Pro 7, is expected to come with thinner bezels and LTE support, according to Microsoft watcher WalkingCat on Twitter.

Previously, it’s been rumored the new Surface Pro would also come with an upgraded Type Cover, and now it looks like Microsoft wants the device itself to also feature a bunch of modern touches. No further specifics have been shared on this, but the Surface Pro 7 will also be equipped with latest-generation hardware as well, including new chips and possibly more RAM and storage.

New Microsoft Surface colors

The same tipster, which has an excellent track on Microsoft scoops, hints there’s a chance the new Surface Laptop could launch without an Alcantara option, possibly in an attempt to lower the price.

Microsoft Surface Laptop 3 could use AMD chips and also include a 15-inch model, according to previous leaks.

New colors are expected as well, albeit for now it’s not yet clear if Microsoft wants to use them across the entire lineup or only for a specific model. Sandstone, Poppy Red, and Ice Blue are the fancy names that the Redmond-based software giant could use for new Surface models coming in gold, red, and blue, respectively.

And last but not least, the codenames of the new Surface models could be Harper, Campus, Patagonia, and Avery Island. No specifics on which is which are available for now, but Patagonia and Campus are believed to represent all-new products.

Microsoft is expected to also take the wraps off a dual-screen Surface model at the October 2 event, with sales likely to kick off next year.
