A sound file in iOS 11 could be related to wireless charging

Now that Apple released the first Public Beta of its upcoming iOS 11 mobile operating system, there's more evidence that wireless charging will come to iPhone 8 later this year when the device should be unveiled.

According to a recent report, it would appear that iOS 11 includes a new sound file called "engage_power.caf" that's likely to be used to notify users when the iPhone 8 smartphone is placed on the wireless charging pad, suggesting that it could come with inductive wireless charging capabilities.

Those who discovered the new sound file say that it's different from the existing "connect_power.caf" sound file that's already available in the current iOS 10 releases and used whenever the iPhone (iPad or iPod touch devices also include this sound) is connected to the Lightning cable for charging.

We're confident that Apple’s upcoming iPhone will include wireless charging

There's no doubt anymore that Apple's upcoming iPhone will include wireless charging technology, probably on par or even more advanced than what the competition offers at the moment, as evidence started to emerge for a long time now, since early February when the company joined the Wireless Power Consortium.

Apple is already using inductive charging for its Apple Watch devices, so we're confident that the rumored iPhone 8 smartphone will include wireless charging capabilities, too. As the next iPhone that the Cupertino company plans to unveil this fall will be shipping with iOS 11, a new sound file must be used to differentiate from the old Lightning charging sound.

You can listen to the new iOS 11 sound file, which will presumably be used to notify users that the device was attached to the wireless charging pad and charging started, in the YouTube video below courtesy of MAKS+. In related news, it would appear that Apple's iPhone 8 could come with a 10W USB-C wall charger, which suggests fast charging functionality, too.
