Initially launched on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, the next big Monster Hunter World expansion, Iceborne will finally make its debut on PC early next year. Capcom has just announced that Monster Hunter World: Iceborne will be released for PC via Steam on January 9, 2020.

Players who already own the base game will be able to buy the Iceborne expansion as digital DLC for $39.99 / €39.99. A Digital Deluxe version including both the expansion and a Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Deluxe Kit DLC of cosmetic items is up for grabs for $49.99 / €49.99.

If you've never played Capcom's masterpiece and want to jump directly into the action, the Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Master Edition containing both the main game and the Iceborne expansion will be available for purchase digitally at launch for $59.99 / €59.99.

The Iceborne expansion brings an enormous amount of new content including the largest region in the game so far, a host of new monsters and subspecies for hunters to challenge, new gameplay options and much more. On top of that, the PC version of Iceborne will include features such as a high-resolution texture pack, customizable graphical settings, and DirectX 12 support.

Capcom also confirmed that mouse-and-keyboard controls have been revamped across the board to better suit the new actions and abilities on PC. Monster Hunter World: Iceborne transports players to the newly discovered Hoarfrost Reach, which offers a unique environment covered in snow.

Iceborne expands with the story and is home to the mysterious new Elder Dragon, Velkhana. To help hunters on their journey, new gameplay features have been added including the new Clutch Claw mechanic and updates to all 14 weapon types that will provide additional combat options.

Also, there's a new two-player balanced difficulty scale, an ability to ride small monsters to traverse maps and a Hunter Helper player incentive to encourage more experienced hunters to help Low and High-Rank players progress through the game.

Last but not least, the expansion introduces hunters to a new higher difficulty rank, called Master Rank. Hunters must have completed the main story in Monster Hunter: World through Hunter Rank 16 to access Master Rank and all the new Iceborne story and quests.
