Monica Bellucci is reveling in being the oldest “Bond Girl” in the entire James Bond franchise, and she makes it a point of reminding interviewers on the current “SPECTRE” promo trail that she is, in fact, 51 years old.

In her latest interview, with the Daily Mail, she talks about being cast as James Bond’s older lover in the Sam Mendes film, but also about hitting menopause and of not being afraid of growing old. The topic of plastic surgery also comes up, which is absolutely unsurprising.

No judgement from Bellucci

Some celebrities love to get up on that soapbox to preach, and many women in showbiz have actually spoken out against plastic surgery in a very judgy tone, even when there were rather convincing indications that they too went under the knife at one point. We’re not going to name names here.

Monica isn’t one of them. She says she never had any kind of work done because she’s not afraid of growing old; not even Botox is good for her because it freezes the face and she would rather it be free, albeit wrinkly.

However, she doesn’t judge those who do get work done.

“Everybody does what she needs. And if you want plastic surgery and then you feel better, why not? There is no law,” she says. “I’ve nothing against using something to help your beauty - but do it in a good way, with intelligence. Botox for some people is really good. For others they have different reactions. I... Pffff. I am for freedom.”

Bellucci’s beauty secret

That is not to say that Monica doesn’t have her beauty secrets, because she does. She says she relies the most on an all-natural face cream, and the work of a professional makeup artist and a hairstylist. She won’t have the world see her with grey hairs, unless, of course, it’s for the sake of her art and she does a part that requires her to be unkempt.

The actress also swears by the beneficial effects of acupuncture, which she has found to be a superior alternative for Botox. Instead of freezing up the face, acupuncture “frees” it, she boasts.

However, her biggest secret is not being afraid of looking her age, in embracing the fact that she’s growing old and the best thing she can do is be gracious about it.
