Video game developer DICE and publisher Electronic Arts are announcing that they are planning to test some of the key features of Mirror's Edge Catalyst starting on April 22 during a closed beta period that will last for five days.

Codes associated with the testing phase will be delivered to those selected, according to the official site, on April 22 for those who have Frontrunner status and one day later for all others who will be taking part.

According to the developers, the plan is to offer some the main missions of Mirror's Edge Catalyst as well as side quests, other optional content and to show off the social play elements that the game has to offer.

The video attached to this article explains how players will be able to interact with each other even if the game does not offer a traditional shared world for them to explore.

DICE adds, "As with any beta, the experience will not be the same as the final product. The Closed Beta is a chance for us to gather your valuable feedback and test the Social Play and online systems before launch. We know that as community members, you will have invaluable feedback on the game, and we look forward to your comments and reaction when the Closed Beta starts."

Mirror's Edge Catalyst offers more details on in-game corporations

As the game gets closer to launch, the developers are fleshing out the world that players will get to explore as Faith, offering information on five of the thirteen corporations that make up the powerful Conglomerate, which dominates Glass.

Kruger Holding deals in weapons, security and mining, while Silvine Systems creates both hardware and software for the regime and Callaghan Construction Corps focuses on engineering and building work.

Maya Media Group controls both new and entertainment outlets in the city, and Anansi is the youngest of these corporations and the most aggressive.

The new game keeps the core free-running mechanics of the original but aims for a much bigger open world that gamers as Faith can move through and eliminates guns from the arsenal of the main character while giving her more momentum-based ways to move from building to building and avoid threats.

Mirror's Edge Catalyst will be out on May 24 in the United States and two days later in Europe and can be played on the PC, the PlayStation 4 from Sony and the Xbox One from Microsoft.
