Mighty No. 9, the spiritual successor to the famous Mega Man series, is a game designed by Keiji Inafune. He's the one who initially illustrated the original Mega Man and the man behind the successful new Kickstarter project. He promised that the game won't suffer any more delay, which is the news that everyone was waiting for.

The new game is supposed to launch on all platforms currently in use, even including Linux, Mac OS, and Wii U. It's been in the works for quite some time, and it already missed some deadlines, which didn't make a lot of people happy, as you can imagine.

The initial launch date for Mighty No. 9 was all the way back in April 2014, meaning it's long overdue. The new launch date for Mighty No. 9 is Q1 2016 and Keiji Inafune says they won't miss it this time.

As it stands right now, the February 9 date has been set in stone for North America and the rest of the world should get it on February 12, 2016. The problem is, of course, that release dates have been advanced before, but Mr. Inafune assures us that this is the last one. Really.

Mighty No. 9 has one chance

According to a report on gamespark.jp, via VG247, Keiji Inafune says that the deadline won't be missed this time. From the looks of it, the delays have been caused by the fact that they are trying to cover a huge number of platforms at once, so it's easy to see why they would have problems.

He also said that a sequel would be made if Mighty No. 9 proved to be a success, but that's just too far into the future to even consider at this point.

With a Kickstarter success and a fairly big game publisher behind it, Deep Silver, Mighty No. 9 should have no problems in a market that sorely needs a game of this, in this particular niche.
