Mighty No. 9, a spiritual successor of the famous Mega Man developed by the same producer, Keiji Inafune, has been delayed for the third time. As expected, fans are not happy.

The gaming community was ecstatic to play another Mega Man game made with modern technologies, even if it didn't have the same name. The fact that the illustrator who worked on the original Mega Man and who's also responsible for games like Onimusha, Lost Planet, and Dead Rising, was heading the new project proved an incredible boot for the new title.

Named Mighty No. 9, the game meets pretty much all of the dreams of the community, including that of being a 2D game. It's impossible not get interested in this game, even if you never played Mega Man, so when Inafune went to Kickstarter for Mighty No. 9, it was easy for them to raise the money.

The launch should have been in 2015

The initial launch was scheduled for April 2015, but this is the third delay for Mighty No. 9. The community is not slightly angered by the new delay, but the release is now really close.

The delay seems to be related to the large number of platforms supported by the game, which is scheduled for pretty much anything that can be plugged in.

"There are two large reasons for this problem, one of them being the large number of platforms supported (the solution for each platform is slightly different) and the other stems from the fact that the engine we are using is no longer being updated which means adjustments for matchmaking and online code are being made manually (actually reprogramming parts of the engine by the dev team themselves)," Inafune explained on Kickstarter.

He apologized for the new delay, but they would prefer to ship something that works out of the box, and that doesn't need to be patched after the release. Keiji Inafune didn't give a new release date, but he says that the end is in sight and that Mighty No. 9 will arrive in spring 2016, the latest.
