Microsoft is working on a new solution that would enhance the migration from Google’s G Suite to Office 365, providing customers with all the necessary tools to make the switch work as smoothly as possible.

The software giant confirmed in a roadmap for Office 365 that this is a feature currently in the works, estimating it would be finalized in the second quarter of the calendar year 2019.

“We've heard the feedback and we're excited to announce the new G Suite migration experience which will allow you to directly migrate email, calendar and contacts from Google G Suite to Office 365! Our highly secure solution ensures your data is directly migrated to Office 365, with no resting points along the way. We're also adding support for migrating mailbox in batches,” Microsoft explains.

The new migration tool will be focused on transferring data like email, contacts, and calendar from Google G Suite to Office 365 and is supposed to address one of the biggest concerns of customers who ware pondering a switch to Microsoft’s productivity suite.

The Office 365 growth

Office 365 has grown to become of the main Microsoft products, with the company’s latest earnings reports for FY19 Q1 revealing an increase of no less than 19 percent of the Productivity and Business Processes unit, which Office is also part of.

Office commercial products and cloud services themselves increased 17 percent, and Office 365 commercial revenue alone scored a growth of 36 percent.

There are more than 32.5 million consumer subscribers for Office 365, according to Microsoft data, and the last quarter brought a 16 percent increase in this particular category.

Microsoft hopes that with this migration tool, more businesses would switch to its products, especially as it continues rolling out further updates that are specifically aimed at improved productivity in the enterprise.
