Company developing a lighter version of its email client

Outlook is currently one of the best email clients not only on the desktop but also on mobile, with the Android version getting updates at a regular pace.

However, it looks like Microsoft is working not only on improving the experience with the fully featured version of Outlook for Android but also on a new sibling that would be specifically aimed at budget devices.

In other words, Microsoft wants Outlook to be lighter on system resources, and this is why it’s working on a so-called Outlook Lite that would obviously include fewer features but which would still come with the essential package.

So basically, what Microsoft is currently working on is a special version of Outlook that would feel at home on low-end Android devices, essentially running like a charm even with lower resources.

The app will launch later this month

As per Neowin, this app will come with built-in Mail and Calendar, but additional information will be shared at a later time as we approach the launch date of the app.

As said, Outlook is currently on the best email apps on the market, and Microsoft is working hard on keeping it modern and fresh.

But on the other hand, it doesn’t look like the company is willing to address one of the biggest annoyances of the mobile version of Outlook, which comes down to the ad that you see in the inbox. The ad is here to stay, it seems, even though for many users, it’s what’s substantially altering the overall experience with the app.

At this point, Outlook Lite for Android is projected to go live later this month, but additional information will be provided by Microsoft itself when the application is ready to be installed on the first low-end Android devices out there.
