Microsoft is working on adding the option of purchasing Xbox 360 games on Xbox One after users have been requesting it.

The ability to play Xbox 360 games on the Xbox One console is one of the things that make a difference from Sony's PlayStation. Microsoft knows this all too well, and it's pushing to have more compatible games ready for its users. Right now there are about 100 Xbox 360 games compatible, but that list is expanding fast.

The biggest problem is that users can't buy Xbox 360 games straight from the console and that sounds a little bit counterintuitive. In fact, Xbox One users need to log it on Xbox.com, on their PC, and make the purchase from there. It appears immediately in their account, but users want a simpler way of doing this.

Buying Xbox 360 games on Xbox One

The Xbox 360 library of games is considerable, and it's a shame to let them go to waste. The fact that some of these games can be played on the new console means that more money can be made this way. They are going to be played by more than just the people who already own them, which is a good thing.

Microsoft has confirmed that it's working on enabling this option on Xbox One, and it would be great if they could implement it, but they have to be very careful. It only takes a few cases of people wrongly buying Xbox 360 games when they were actually trying to get the Xbox One version, and the whole thing could blow up in their face.

If you have a supported Xbox 360 game, then all you have to do is to insert the disk and you'll be able to play it. Some of the titles from the old generation still hold up pretty well and should be nice to play on Xbox One as well.
