A new toggle will be added to the Action Center

The dark mode has become an essential part of the modern Windows experience, and needless to say, Microsoft is working non-stop on further polishing it.

This is why the company is apparently working on a new Action Center toggle that will soon allow users to enable the dark mode with just one click.

Spotted by Zac Bowden and revealed on Twitter, the new toggle makes the switch from the light mode to dark and the other way around a matter of clicks, as users would no longer have to go to the Settings app for the whole thing.

Needless to say, Microsoft doesn’t seem to be planning other big changes for Windows 11 users on this front. For example, one feature that would come in handy is a feature that would allow users to automatically enable the dark mode in the evening or at a configured time, with Windows 11 to then go back to the light visual style early in the morning.

Microsoft is betting big on the dark mode, and this is why the company wants to bring it to more parts of the operating system.

The goal is as simple as it could be: create a more consistent experience from one end to the other in Windows 11. Task Manager, for instance, also features a dark mode.

“We have updated the design of Task Manager to match the new Windows 11 design principles. This includes a new hamburger style navigation bar and a new settings page. A new command bar on each page gives access to common actions. We are also excited to bring dark theme to Task manager and will automatically match the system-wide theme configured in the Settings app,” Microsoft said back in February when it released the Task Manager dark mode to insiders.

At this point, it’s not yet known when the new toggle would become available for all users.
