The new Bing is likely to include sponsored links too

Microsoft is one of the tech giants that are betting big on AI integration into its products, and the company is already working on its long-term ambitions on this front.

As it turns out, the software giant sees ads as an integral part of the AI strategy, with the company reportedly getting in touch with advertisers specifically to demonstrate how sponsored links would be displayed within responses offered by its chatbot.

In other words, the AI-powered conversation experience integrated into Bing would end up serving ads, and Microsoft believes this could eventually be useful for users while also doubling as a source of revenue for the company.

At this point, it’s not yet known when Bing would start displaying ads in chatbot conversations, but given the AI push itself is still in its early days, it could take a while until this happens.

Microsoft said from the very beginning that it wants users to be provided with a complete experience on the new Bing, explaining that the chat experience would also include links, though the company hasn’t said anything about ads.

“For more complex searches – such as for planning a detailed trip itinerary or researching what TV to buy – the new Bing offers new, interactive chat. The chat experience empowers you to refine your search until you get the complete answer you are looking for by asking for more details, clarity and ideas – with links available so you can immediately act on your decisions,” Microsoft says.

For now, the software giant is remaining tight-lipped on its ad strategy, but it’s very clear that AI will play a bigger role in all of its products. Bing is likely just the beginning, but it remains to be seen if the integration of ads would keep users onboard.
