Microsoft is pushing its relationship with Windows insiders to a completely new level, as the company has started calling Windows 10 testers on Skype to gain feedback on specific features.

Basically, with video interviews, Microsoft aims to get detailed suggestions and bug reports in a more efficient manner, as engineers can chat directly with insiders and ask them a series of questions based on certain Windows 10 features.

For example, Microsoft has recently conducted video calls to discuss the new Windows light theme that’s coming to users with the release of the 19H1 update in the spring.

A description of this new feedback system is published on the Microsoft user research page where the software giant explains that the call lasts a maximum of 10 minutes, but it could be longer if the company needs more details on a specific topic.

No personal data requested

“Your feedback is important to us. As we develop new software and services, it’s critical that we get feedback from customers who use our products. You may be asked about your experiences with existing products or for your reaction to new designs. Notes about your experiences may be taken by Microsoft,” the firm says.

What’s important to know is that all calls are performed anonymously and no personal data belonging to users is required, like name, phone number, or social security number. However, you could be asked to join Microsoft’s customer research panel, but the company emphasizes this is optional.

The way Microsoft handles user feedback has long been a controversial topic, so Microsoft may be trying to improve its relationship with insiders by getting in touch directly with them. This is, in essence, an excellent idea, especially if the company can get relevant feedback on new Windows 10 features, but whether this is going to work is something that we’ll have to wait and see.
