14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft has recently released the new-generation Surface Book and Surface Go models, so now the company can also focus on the other things that come with upgraded models, including the tools offered to IT admins for device management.
More specifically, the software giant has updated the Surface tools that can help with core security, management, and diagnostic tasks in organizations where entire fleets of Surface devices are deployed.
The Surface Data Eraser, which allows IT admins to perform a secure wipe of all the data from enrolled Surface devices is now compatible with the Surface Book 3 and Surface Go 2, and so is the Surface Diagnostic Tool for Business.
This app, in particular, comes ins handy when trying to run diagnostic tests and software repairs when issues arise. It can be used to investigate, troubleshoot, and even resolve software, hardware, and firmware issues with Surface models being used within an organization.
Updated tools for IT admins
And last but not least, the Surface Book 3 and the Surface Go 2 can now work with the Surface Enterprise Management Mode, which allows users to secure and manage firmware on Surface devices.
Microsoft says it has already updated apps like the Surface Brightness Control and the Surface Dock Firmware Update for Surface Dock 1 to work with the brand new Surface Book 3 and the Surface Go 2.

Both the Surface Book 3 and the Surface Go 2 come with welcome hardware upgrades, so many organizations are expected to upgrade to these models. In other words, updated versions of the IT tools that Microsoft offers to admins will certainly come in handy when trying to manage the new fleet of Surface devices.
