New app updates show up in the Windows Store

Microsoft’s Windows as a Service concept seems to be working very well these days, as the company keeps rolling out updates for the built-in apps at a much faster pace than before.

Basically, with this new approach, Microsoft delivers new updates when they are ready, so there’s no need to wait for a certain date in order to patch applications and the OS itself. So app updates arrive quite frequently, and today it’s the turn of Mail and Calendar, OneNote, People, and Windows Camera to receive their own share of improvements.

On the other hand, Microsoft seems to be very keen on going forward with its no-changelog release strategy that basically comes down to pushing updates to users without actually telling them what is included. So although you get updates for your apps and the OS, you’re not being told what’s in there, which means that you install them only with the promise that everything would work faster.

Windows Store bugs

If you’re an early Windows 10 adopter, you probably know that Microsoft tried to fix bugs in the operating system as time passed by, but now, after six months after the launch of the new Windows, some of the issues are still there.

For example, the screenshot you see here was taken earlier today on one of our PCs and shows a problem that has been experienced since the debut of Windows 10.

Some of the updates that are available in the store are not displayed in the app, and although you can indeed download them, you’ll never know what you actually installed. The problem first appeared after the launch of Windows 10 and persisted even after so many updates and cumulative patches.

But in the end, it’s a good thing that Microsoft rolls out updates at such a fast pace, so make sure you install the latest as well to improve performance and fix the known bugs.
