Three Office applications for the Android platform has just received small, but important, updates: Excel, PowerPoint and Word. Some of the new features and improvements included in these updates are available for one or more of these applications.

The most important new features added by Microsoft is auto save. This new feature will allow users to save changes while on the go without having to take any further steps. The auto save feature can be turned off if you don’t want your documents to benefit from this option.

Another major new feature for Word is collaborative authoring, which will allow users to work with others at the same time on their documents. The collaborative authoring feature is available for PowerPoint users as well.

Collaborative authoring, version history, and more

With version history, users can now go back to view or restore an earlier version of their documents. This new feature has been added to all three Office apps updated today.

Excel for Android also receives “fill handles” feature, which should automatically fill a range of cells by dragging a Fill handle.

PowerPoint for Android benefits from the largest update released by Microsoft. Aside from auto save, version history and collaborative authoring, the application now features “designer.”

With designer, users can build professional slides with just a picture since the application now provides everything else. Also, PowerPoint users will now be able to take a picture directly from the application with the “Insert from Camera” feature.

You can now download Excel for Android for free via Google Play Store. The application should be fully compatible with all devices running Android 4.4 and up.

PowerPoint for Android can be downloaded for free from Google Play store, too. It should run smoothly on all devices powered by Android 4.4 and up.

Last but not least, you can now download Word for Android for free at Google Play Store. The application has been confirmed to work on all devices running Android 4.4 or later.
