Microsoft Pix gets an update in the Apple App Store

Microsoft has just released an update for its Pix Camera iOS app, adding a feature that should’ve been there from the very beginning: support for the flash.

It sounds awkward for a camera app not to have flash support, but the previous versions of Microsoft Pix actually lacked such a feature for a reason that’s hard to understand.

Version 1.0.28 thus introduces flash, and Microsoft says that it’s all because of “popular demand,” which means that many users who actually installed Pix on their iPhones actually reached out to the company to request this feature.

Then, there’s also a collapsible toolbar that includes the flash, the timer, and the grid overlay, with Microsoft thus trying to offer an easy-to-use menu to access all of them.

There are some improvements as well, and Microsoft explains that Pix should launch faster now, while the shutter-to-shutter speed should be significantly better. And last but not least, the company’s engineers focused specifically on reducing app size, so it eats up less space on your iPhone, which is quite an important thing since there are plenty of users with 16GB iPhones out there.

Microsoft Pix requirements

Microsoft Pix is one of the apps that Redmond is updating on a regular basis, mostly because it sees it a lot more advanced than the default iOS camera app that Apple offers to its customers.

Pix comes with face recognition, smart settings to automatically check scenes and lightning to update settings, moment capture, live images, hyperlapse, auto-sync, and 3D Touch support.

Microsoft Pix works on any device running iOS 9.0 or later, so you can use it starting with the iPhone 5s and newer. Of course, it’s available with a free license and comes with no in-app purchases, which means that you get the full feature package from the very beginning with no extra costs required whatsoever.
