After updating Cortana for iOS devices, Microsoft announced major updates for another application, Bing. The updates arrive on both Android and iOS platforms, so if you're using Bing on your mobile phone, now would be a good time to check for these updates.

First of all, the new Android application provides users with the ability to get snapshots of information, available on-tap and in-context, while using other applications.

New features have been added to both Android and iOS apps. For example, a new barcode scanner has been added, which will allow users to compare product prices from online catalogs of major retailers.

Also, Microsoft added new integration with GasBuddy, so users can find the lowest gas prices in their area.

One feature that has been added to the iPhone application, but will come soon to Android, is dedicated deals experience that allows users to browse deals, offers and coupons by various categories.

3D touch support is included

Keep in mind that you will be able to launch the new barcode scanner on iPhone 6S and 6S+, using the new 3D touch technology to force-touch the Bing app icon and select the “Scan Barcode” quick action.

However, on older iPhones, users will have to head over to the new “Deals” menu and tap the barcode scanner icon from there.

Android users who want to access the new barcode scanner will have to long-press the search icon and select the camera that pops out.

As mentioned earlier, in addition to showing deals directly in search results, Microsoft made it easier to browse deals directly from the homepage of the Bing for iPhone.

Last but not least, users will be able to find fresh gas prices provided by GasBuddy for the closest fuel stops from Bing Local.

You can now download Bing for Android for free via Google Play Store. The application should be fully compatible with all devices running Android 4.0 and up.

For iOS users, the application can be download for free via App Store. It should work smoothly on all devices running iOS 8.0 or newer.
